Exciting News: Pakistani Cricket Star Shaheen Shah Afridi Joins DP World ILT20
A fantastic piece of news has just arrived from the world of cricket! The amazing Pakistani cricket superstar, Shaheen Shah Afridi, is achieving one success after another. He is known for being one of the greatest bowlers in the whole world. And guess what? He’s been chosen to play for the Desert Vipers in the DP World International League T20 (ILT20) Season 2. This was announced by the team on Monday.
Shaheen Shah Afridi is really famous for his fast bowling skills. He has taken a remarkable 229 wickets in T20 matches. That’s why teams from all around the world really want him on their side.
The Desert Vipers are getting ready for an amazing second season of the global event. The first season was a big hit, and they want the second one to be even better. The team said, “Shaheen Shah Afridi, the superstar from Pakistan who is amazing in all formats of the game, will be leading the new players’ list for DP World ILT20 Season 2.
He’s known for his fast left-arm deliveries and has taken 229 wickets in 161 T20 matches. He will play for Desert Vipers, the team that was in the finals of the first season.” The complete list of new players for the World ILT20 Season 2 will be announced very soon.
The team also praised Shaheen for all his success. They said he has improved a lot in all kinds of cricket ever since he started playing T20 Internationals in 2018. He’s famous for being a fast bowler who can take wickets even in the first over of the match.
In 2021, he was named the ICC Player of the Year and received the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy, which is a really big award given by the ICC (International Cricket Council).
Not just in the international arena, but Shaheen has also done great things in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). He led the Lahore Qalandars team to win the championship twice in a row in 2022 and 2023. That’s a big deal!

There were some other Pakistani players who were also offered big contracts for the league. Players like Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Hasnain, and Azam Khan were in demand. Some of them even got picked by teams, but they couldn’t play due to certain reasons.
In the first season of ILT20, teams like Dubai Capitals, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, MI Emirates, Sharjah Warriors, Gulf Giants, and Vipers took part. The Gulf Giants won the tournament by defeating the Vipers in the final match.
